MSc Family Therapy & Systemic Practice

Family Therapy | Couples Psychotherapy | Couples Psychotherapy | Systemic Psychotherapy | For: Families, Couples, Individuals & Health Insurers

I am a registered family and systemic psychotherapist accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the UK Association for Family Therapy (AFT).

Trained in systemic psychotherapy, my work with families and couples helps them better understand the relational and interpersonal challenges, they are facing and assists them to develop new and positive ways of relating to each other and in managing stressful life events.

I am experienced in working with families with children, and work (when not at Fairbairn House) for the NHS with children, adolescents and families in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in the Highlands.

My lived and professional experiences have taught me the importance of creating a safe and trustworthy relationship in order to create a safe enough context/space to explore whatever brings you to therapy as an individual, as a couple or as a family.

About family therapy:
Family therapy has been shown to be effective in supporting and helping families during times of stressful life events and experiences such as illness, trauma, family separation and loss or when challenges in family communication and relationships arise.

Systemic family therapy supports families to talk together and share one another’s thoughts, views and worries. Systemic sessions can be with all family members, but could at times also be with individual members of the family, couples, grandparents, extended family for example. Who attends the sessions is agreed with you based on the needs and wishes of you or your family.

A helpful information leaflet “What is Family Therapy and Systemic Practice” can be found at www.aft.org under the considering therapy section of the website.
